September 15 (Saturday) High School Honor Guitar Auditions-LVA-$25 fee due by September 29. Auditions for the CCSD Honor Guitar Ensemble at Las Vegas Academy in Sunset from 8:00 a.m. - Noon-Students accepted into this honor ensemble will perform Saturday, November 10 at LVA and Wednesday, November 28 at the Smith Center. Auditioning for this honor ensemble is a partial requirement for seniors to receive a chord at graduation.

October 19 (Friday) Guitar Recital open to second, third & fourth year students-Black Box-2:30 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. $7.00 admission (required attendance for ALL guitar majors)
October 24 (Wednesday) High School Honor Guitar Rehearsal after school 2:30 - 4:30 in LVA Band Room
October 29 (Monday) LVA Gala at the Rio Hotel-LVA Senior Guitar Quartet Performs
November 7 (Wednesday) High School Honor Guitar Rehearsal after school 2:30 - 4:30 in LVA Band Room
November 9 (Friday) Registration and Fees are due for the Best in Southern Nevada Solo & Ensemble Tournament. Participating in the solo & ensemble tournament is a partial requirement for seniors to receive a chord at graduation. Fee is $10 per person per event.
November 9 (Friday) High School Honor Guitar all-day rehearsal at LVA. Students will be excused from regular classes.
November 9 (Friday) Middle School Directors' Choice Honor Guitar Ensemble rehearsals 3:30 - 5:30 Performing Arts Center
November 10 (Saturday) High School Honor Guitar afternoon rehearsal and performance at 7:00 p.m. at LVA in the Performing Arts Center under the direction of Dr. Michael Quantz
November 10 (Saturday) Middle School Directors' Choice Honor Guitar Ensemble rehearsal and performance in Performing Arts Center
November 14 (Wednesday) High School Honor Guitar Rehearsal after school 2:30 - 4:30 in LVA Band Room
November 28 (Wednesday) CCSD Honor Guitar Ensemble - rehearse at the Smith Center on Wednesday (TBA) and performance at the Smith Center on Wednesday, November 28 (times to be announced) Performance begins at 6:00 p.m.
December 7 (Friday) Holiday Guitar Recital at the West Charleston Library-7:00 p.m.-Free-open to all guitar majors to perform
December 8 (Saturday) - Best Guitarists in Southern Nevada Solo & Ensemble Tournament Round One - This will be the first elimination round. Entry fee is $10.00. Those students who move on to the second round compete again on January 12. Registration is due November 9. Open to all high school guitar students in Clark County.
December 8 (Saturday) Middle School Audition Preparation for LVA from 9:30-11:00 in LVA Guitar Room. Free and open to all eighth grade guitar students.
December 14 (Friday) Trans Siberian Guitar Orchestra Concert, Varsity 1, 2 & 3-PAC-7:00 p.m.-$7.00 (There may be an after school rehearsal for both Varsity 2 & Varsity 3 students) This is the first formal concert of the year. This concert will be followed by a holiday reception.
December 14 (Friday) Deadline to register and pay fees for those students going on to Round Two of the Best Guitarists in Southern Nevada Solo & Ensemble Tournament.
January 12 (Saturday)- Best Guitarists in Southern Nevada Solo & Ensemble Tournament Round Two and Final Round. Winners of Round 2 will perform a concert at 7:00 p.m. in the Black Box Theater on Friday, January 18. Admission is $7.00.
January 18 (Friday) Winners of the Best Guitarists in Southern Nevada Solo & Ensemble Tournament will perform in the Black Box Theater at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $7.00. Videos of these performances will be sent to all colleges and universities with guitar programs with the hopes to assist winners to receive acceptance and scholarship money.
January 18 (Friday) Senior Guitar Quartet performs for California School Teachers Union Conference at Rio Hotel from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
March 15 (Friday) Classic Rock Guitar Concert, Varsity 1,2 & 3 - Lowden Theater-7:00-$7.00
There may be an after school rehearsal with strings on Thursday or Friday of this week.
March 18 (Monday) Middle School CCSD Guitar Ensemble Festival at LVA in PAC
March 19 (Tuesday) High School CCSD Guitar Ensemble Festival at LVA in PAC
May 3 (Friday) Senior Guitar Recital-Black Box Theater- 2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. -$7.00 (required attendance for ALL guitar majors) (Special matinee performance at 2:30 p.m.)
May 10 (Friday) Seniors' Choice Guitar Concert, Varsity 1,2 & 3-PAC-7:00 p.m. - $7.00
May 15 (Wednesday) Senior Awards Presentation 6:00 p.m.
May 23 (Thursday) Last day of school
There are 4 Guitar Concerts scheduled for the following dates: October 5, December 14, March 15 and May 10. Admission is $7.00 for each concert.
There are 3 Guitar Recitals scheduled for the following dates: October 19, January 12 and May 3. Admission is $7.00 for each recital. All guitar majors are required to attend these three recitals. Guitar majors not performing will receive one complimentary ticket for each event.
Varsity 1 Guitar Ensemble members will perform on December 14, March 15 and May 10. All other performance dates are required attendance.
Consequences for an unexcused absence to a performance are: 1) quarter grade will be lowered by one letter grade, 2) citizenship will become a U for the quarter, and 3) placed on probation for the following semester. Please read Page 2 of the LVA Music Department Handbook.
